The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader of a nonprofit organization or busi-
ness, with a solid track record of management skills and measurable results. They will
be energized by challenge and opportunity, and will demonstrate a drive to get things
done. They will have led double-digit growth in their organization in areas like sales/
membership, revenue, and/or profitability (or surplus). They will have accomplished
those results through others -- by building teams and organizing/engaging others to-
wards a common goal.
They will be an excellent communicator. When speaking to large groups or individuals,
they will demonstrate poise and professionalism, and will be clear, compelling, on-point,
while tailoring their message for the audience. When writing, their communications
will be professional and diplomatic. The ideal candidate will gladly represent EBRHA’s
mission at public meetings, but will want to focus their time on leading the organiza-
tion’s growth and will primarily delegate advocacy work.
To effectively lead EBRHA, the ideal candidate will have well rounded management
skills, as demonstrated by a combination of education and experience in managing peo-
ple, budgets, and business operations. They will have sound budgeting and fiscal man-
agement skills. They will have developed or managed business processes for con-
sistent results. They will understand how to utilize marketing and technology to drive
membership growth. They will demonstrate member/customer focus, utilizing metrics
to inform improvement in service offerings and member/customer satisfaction.
EBRHA is a 501 C(6) nonprofit, so our ideal candidate will be experienced working with
volunteer Boards, and will have a track record of collaboration, transparency, and trust.
In working with staff, they will have successfully trained and developed others, set ex-
pectations, and built a high-functioning workplace marked by mutual respect and
productivity. They will model integrity, accountability, and healthy interactions.
The ideal candidate does not need to have experience in the rental housing industry,
but they will be committed to developing and maintaining in-depth knowledge of issues,
trends, and current events affecting the rental housing industry in the East Bay.
