 The shed has developed the AC traction motor trial run test kit for 1600 HP DEMU AC
3 phase motors completely in-house.

 The existing Alco compressor test drive panel was utilized with slight modifications.
Cost Savings: The Trial run test kit for 1600 HP DEMU costs about INR 14 lakhs and
shed also obtained M&P sanction. Now shed has proposed to drop the same, thereby
affecting a savings to the tune of INR 14 lakhs.

iii) Provision of Safety Guard for Fuel Glow Rod Gauges of DEMU:

Provided safety guard for fuel oil glow rod gauges on all DEMU DPCs

Shed has designed and providedSafety Guards for Fuel Oil Glow Rod Gauges of
DEMUs to avoid:

 Punctuality loss and Failure of DEMU service while on run
 Fire hazard from oil leakage due ballast hit.
 Loss of fuel due to ballast hit.

d) Other Initiatives:

i) Provision of Exhaust system at Fuel Injectors & pumps overhauling Room

Provided exhaust system at FIP Room

During the overhauling of Fuel injectors and pumps fumes of HSD oil are generated which
are harmful, if inhaled. An exhaust system was designed and fabricated for expelling
these fumes at a cost of INR 32,000/- enabling the staff to work in a fume-free
environment apart from improvement in fire safety.
