2. Innovations, Modifications & system Improvements:

i. AC Traction motor Trial run kit for 1600 HP DEMUs

The shed has developed the AC traction motor trial run test kit for 1600 HP DEMU
AC 3 phase motors completely in-house. The existing Alco compressor test drive
panel was utilized with slight modifications.

Cost Savings: The Trial run test kit for 1600 HP DEMU costs about INR 14 lakhs
and shed also obtained M&P sanction. Now shed has proposed to drop the same,
thereby affecting a savings to the tune of INR 14 lakhs.

ii. Modification in Control system of 1600 HP DPCs:

To improve the reliability, carried out modification by replacing frequent failing 24 V
alternators of 1600HP with more reliable 1400HP 24V alternators.
