values of culture and leadership development are right at the center of that and all the things you're
talking about today play to these vital jobs that we all have to do right now. But I've committed the
rest of my life to these two things. As one quick example of that, I want to talk about some work
that we were asked to help with in the Northern Territory of Australia, in a particular community
that had 150 years of misguided government aid where there were high levels of drug addiction,
alcoholism, unemployment, family violence. Annalise Jennings, the consultant that went into work
with them, didn't go in to fix them, she went in to facilitate them creating their own transformation.
And the number 60% increase in employment 80% reduction in children attending the safe house,
all these remarkable transformations by the community, focusing on what was most important their
values, and transforming life for themselves.
Finally, I want to say that I believe that the fundamental sustainability principles of all
organizations, whether that's a business or a government, or an NGO, is just these three things.
Firstly, do no harm. How can organizations reduce the harm they're doing through that carbon
emissions through their production systems, through their travel all sorts of things. So even if they
can't do no harm, today, we can start doing less harm. The second is to alleviate suffering. And the
third is to facilitate healing and thriving. So how can we focus our products and services on solving
the big problems that we have in society and the environment, and if organizations can do that,
we'll find we're in a position of healing the planet and healing society much faster. Mr. Clothier
concluded his speech by thanking all participants and wishing them to go on and do amazing work
afterwards!
