MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE
INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING CERTIFICATION

BOARD (IECB)

I warmly congratulate the Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers
Cebu Chapter for hosting three significant events: the 19th PIIE
National Congress, the 11th IE Research Conference, and the 2nd AI
Summit and CEO Forum, this November 15-16, 2024.

Firstly, I greatly admire this feat of bringing into one forum the
Industrial Engineers from across service and manufacturing sectors to
listen, learn, and share about the theme, “AI at the Core of
Revolutionizing Business Strategy.” Artificial Intelligence, or AI, has
been the buzz for quite some time and that it will significantly impact
business processes, making processes agile, cost-effective, and
productive, thus enhancing decision-making and customer service,
among other benefits.

Secondly, the simultaneous holding of the 11th IE Research
Conference provides an excellent platform for sharing studies that
focus on the role of AI in innovation and technology development.

It is exciting that universities and higher educational institutions, which are the hubs of knowledge
creation, are showing the desire and enthusiasm to present breakthroughs in the use of AI through
research and engineering applications. I wish to express my admiration to the participants who are
sharing their research studies with fellow scholars and practitioners.

Thirdly, the launching of the 2nd AI Summit and CEO Forum has continuously generated heightened
interest among leaders in industry. This forum of officers who belong to the top tier of their
organizations generates excitement as they share how AI can drive growth and transform their
respective organizations to be innovative, sustainable, competitive, and adaptive. Amidst the
emerging concerns and issues in the use of AI, we are facing a change that is inevitable. This forum is a
manifestation of our commitment as change agents and ethical professionals.

Lastly, congratulations to the new Professional Industrial Engineers and Certified Industrial Engineers
as they take their oath. Thank you, PIIE Cebu Chapter for bringing us together in this prestigious event!
