UNION EXECUTIVE
PRESIDENT
The President is the head of the Indian State.
He is the person who acts as the symbol of unity, integrity and solidarity of our nation.
Qualification of the President
He should be the citizen of India.
He should have completed 35 years.
He should be qualified for election as a member of Lok Sabha.
He should not hold any office of profit under the Union or State Government or local or
public authority.
Election of the President
The President is not elected directly by the people.
He is elected by the members of the Parliament.
The President's election is held in accordance with the system of proportional
representation.
Voting is through secret ballot.
The candidate who gets 50% vote is considered elected.
