P. 19

Now let’s turn the tables and look at this from the other side.
Imagine, your friends keep on criticizing you all the time. They
condemn you for no reason. How is this going to affect you? Are you

going to believe that their criticism foreshadows your failure?
Remember: Their words are not meant to be your oracle. Their
applause and censure cannot determine your future. There is no
direct impact of their behavior on your outcome. The only thing that
matters is your dedication, confidence and preparation.

It will be entirely wrong if you take the opinion of others so hard on
yourself that you end up severing ties with people, stop speaking to

them, or you take too much stress because of what they have said. If
you have a critic or someone who speaks bad about you, the best
way to shut him up is by becoming successful. One should always
hit back at someone with his actions and not words. You don’t have
to shout back to silence negative criticism. If you throw bitter words

at your abuser, then there is no difference between the two of you.
Why are you letting someone else dictate how you feel? You don’t
have to be upset or defensive when someone is rude to you. To not
react when provoked is a sign of an educated and wise person.

Imagine the scenario of a boat setting off to sail. When the boat is
near the shore, people who are standing nearby will talk about it.

They will comment or pass judgements on the boat or the people on
the boat till the boat is visible to them.
Once the boat sails away and becomes invisible they will stop talking
about it. They will focus on another boat which is visible to them. The
learning here is that people will keep talking about you only when
you are in their sight. This is human nature. Why are you bothered

by what others think and say?

If ever you feel sad, then you must recall the first day when you
started studying. You chalked out a plan so that you can prepare and
study efficiently. You bought a new register, a new pencil, new
books; you even got the room rearranged to create the perfect study
environment. Back then, you must have decided that you would

study so hard, work so hard with so much energy and enthusiasm
