such questions. I also encounter other questions related to this
subject like: 'How can one get rid of masturbation addiction?', ‘The
feelings of sex usually dominate my thought process while studying,
I get highly attracted towards the opposite sex. What should I do?’
and ‘Should I have a boyfriend or a girlfriend? Is that going to affect
my studies?’
Firstly, you need to get this out of your mind that such thoughts are
sinful. You are committing no crime. You really don’t need to feel
guilty about it. Such thoughts are completely natural. There is no
element of shame in it.
But then, when do problems arise?
Problems arise when such thoughts refuse to leave your mind. And
this can have a huge impact on your overall well-being. It’s also a
problem when you get addicted to watching pornographic movies,
masturbation and have sexually intrusive thoughts. It is a problem
because it starts affecting your lifestyle, work and studies in an
adverse way.
Let us look at these matters one at a time.
Firstly, we will touch upon the issue of getting exceeding amount of
sex-related thoughts. Where do our thoughts come from? Do they
just come from nowhere and pop into our heads? Do we invite our
thoughts and allow them to occupy our brain? Do our thoughts
define us? If our thoughts are capable of coming to our mind without
an invitation, then they might leave by themselves. Their arrival and
departure should not bother us.
For example, a lot many times you must have thought, ‘I should
leave everything, stop this preparation, set off to a distant land and
have fun.’ Or “If I were a rich man’s child—I would not have had to
struggle so much’. We all entertain thoughts like, ‘If I were a rich film
star, or a cricketer; a little taller in height or a bit shorter, a little more
well-built or a little thinner, a bit darker or fairer, things would have
