been better. Our mind never stops thinking about such things and
complaining.
Thoughts have no limitations. One gets all kinds of thoughts- of
violence, of disrespect, unwanted intrusive thoughts; we think about
everything under the sun. But have you ever observed that all such
unwanted thoughts appear and disappear by themselves?
But again, sometimes it feels that a thought will never leave your
mind. Why is it so that some thoughts just refuse to leave us?
Thoughts related to sex, earning fame, accumulating a lot of wealth
and spending it, defeating your enemy or taking revenge, achieving
more than your friends and being more prosperous than your
neighbor- such thoughts don’t go even if we want them to disappear
into nothingness. There is one thing common in all such thoughts -
“the sense of pleasure”. Each of the aforementioned thoughts gives
you a certain amount of pleasure. However, these pleasing thoughts
act like a spider’s web and captivate our mind and deviate our focus.
Remember: All pleasures do not add up to happiness
A person usually gets sexual thoughts about a movie star, a
classmate, friend, or a colleague. Many a time the person thinks that
since it is impossible to get such pleasure in real life, there is no
harm in deriving pleasures from his fantasies and imaginations.
Once this thought gains currency in the person’s mind, it starts
getting more intense and he thinks more and more about it. He gets
into the habit of masturbating and slowly, this habit becomes
permanent. Despite his will to stop this, he is not able to control any
of it. This is because he has exhausted his natural restraining power.
Even a basic erotic picture sparks restlessness which ends in
masturbation.
One day a man went to a doctor and told that he is feeling unwell
and there is something wrong with him. The doctor told him that
since his test reports are all good, there is nothing wrong with him.
But does this mean that the patient must accept the doctor’s
narrative and disregard whatever he is feeling? When it comes to
feelings, we are our own best doctor and we are our own best
