hustle- bustle, the good old days which have now become
memories.
Life keeps getting tougher and difficult when you keep moving
ahead. While preparing for an examination, one thing which you will
always notice is that - one who is already in the service always
works harder. Like an officer in the armed forces works harder than
the person who is preparing for CDS examination, an employee
working in the bank works harder than the person who is trying to
appear in bank examinations, and an IAS officer is more at work
than the person who is preparing for the examination. From these
examples, what I want you to understand is that life is not going to
be easy after you clear a particular exam. The exam process
prepares you for tougher challenges in life.
Let me illustrate this with an example.
This is the routine of a person working in the bank:
Reporting time: 9:00am (biometric)
Lunch: 2:00 - 2:30pm
Leaving the bank: 8:00pm
Dinner: 9:00pm
Back to room: 9:30pm
This schedule was shared to me by one of my former students who
is working in a bank since the last two years. He does not even get
time to check his phone. This is his routine for an average day
wherein he gets to leave the bank by 8:00pm. But when it is time for
quarterly entries in the bank he remains there till 11 or 12 at night.
During the year end processes, there are days when he has to sleep
in the bank itself. Even an average day’s work takes about 9 to 10
hours. We can say that on an average he works 12 hours a day. This
is the kind of life for which you are preparing today. An average
student studies from anywhere between three to six hours every day.
This means that if you become a bank officer, the amount of hard
work that you have to do will be more. If you are able to understand
this, then you will not shy away from working hard.
