SCIENCE ELECTIVES
*See AP Course list for additional expectations of our AP science options.*
AP Biology*: 4th year Science! This course uses college-level biology coursework with advanced labs and requires
students to analyze and explain the “whys” of biological science.
*Prerequisite: Successful completion of Biology is required.
AP Physics I*: Possible 4th year Science Option! If you have completed Honors Physics, you may choose to take
AP Physics I as an elective (or 4th-year science option). This course is an introductory course teaching laws of motion
through a balance of lectures with guided discussion and hands-on lab activities.
**Please Note: AP Physics I may be taken as the 11th-grade Physics option and this course only becomes an
elective if you take this after you complete Honors Physics.
*Prerequisite: Successful completion of Honors Chemistry is required of rising Juniors. Successful completion of
Honors Physics is required of rising Seniors. Rising Seniors who have completed Honors Physics and choose to
study AP Calculus during 12th grade should strongly consider the AP Physics C course instead.
AP Physics C*: 4th year Science! This course requires calculus-based problem-solving at a high level and is a
study of mechanics.
*Prerequisite: Successful completion of Physics or higher-level course and successful completion or
concurrent enrollment in AP Calculus (AB or BC) is required.
AP Chemistry*: 4th year Science! This course uses college-level chemistry coursework including advanced lab
activities that integrate mathematical problem solving with chemical concepts.
*Prerequisite: Successful completion or concurrent enrollment in Physics is required.
AP Environmental Science*: 4th-year science! This course uses college-level coursework that covers ecology,
energy resources and conservation, pollution, and biotechnology.
*Prerequisite: Successful completion of Biology is required and Chemistry is recommended.
