SOCIAL STUDIES ELECTIVES











































  World Geography: This course provides an understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and relationships
  between people and places throughout the world. This course will prepare students for their three-year required
  Social Studies sequence. It also offers extensive opportunities to develop and refine writing competencies that
  prepare the student for the high school Gateway assessment.


  Psychology/Sociology: 11th/12th Graders Only! Psychology is a half-semester course that introduces you to
  understand your behavior and the behavior of others. Sociology is a half-semester course that studies human
  society in combination with social behavior.


  Ethics Studies/Law: 11th/12th Graders Only! The NEW Ethnic Studies course is designed to introduce the

  experiences of ethnic communities that are not often studied in-depth in core social studies courses.  This course
  emphasizes a multitude of experiences and perspectives in history while discussing various social and political
  movements led by various ethnic and racial groups to achieve change. In addition, we will examine the major
  contributions that diverse groups of people have made to our global community.


  Peer Leading*: 11th/12th Graders Only! The purpose of Peer Leadership is to develop the character of Mill
  Creek students that exhibit strong potential for being effective leaders among their peers. Mill Creek Peer
  Leadership is designed to promote ethical and moral principles on both a personal and public level. Peer
  Leadership is a “hands-on” course designed to help Mill Creek students SOAR every day.
