COBH TOURISM NEWS
2019 was a great year for tourism in Cobh. The local hotels
bucked the trend for occupancy compared to other destina-
tions in the south of the country and there was a great vibran-
cy around the town. Exposure for Cobh generated by Cobh
being named by Condé Nast as one of the 25 most beautiful
small towns in Europe will ensure a bright future for our town.
The Press Release issued on behalf of Cobh Tourism was
picked up by RTE, Irish Central, Her.ie, the Irish Mirror, Irish
Times, Image.ie, RSVP Live and The Journal.ie among others.
Overall the coverage generated by Cobh Tourism this summer would cost €42,300
to buy! Cobh Tourism’s work in marketing Cobh and delivering well organised and
promoted events is paying dividends for all of Cobh’s businesses.
Working tirelessly
The voluntary Board of Cobh Tourism is always working
tirelessly in the best interests of Tourism in Cobh. Events
organised include the annual Lusitania, Titanic and Spike
Island Flag Raising Ceremony. Australia Day in Cobh and
Music in the Promenade brought an additional vibrancy to
the town.
Familiarisation trips by journalists result in very positive
coverage for Cobh in publications like the RTE Guide, The
Irish Post and Blogger’s posts. The Cobh Tourism publicity
machine generated 105 individual stories since last April
alone.
The Cobh Map is seen as essential by most visitors to Cobh and is a great way to
advertise all that the town has to offer.
Australia Day in Cobh
Thursday 11th July 2019 saw the Sea Princess sail into Cobh, midway through her
world cruise that departed Sydney. The Australian Ambassador to Ireland Mr Rich-
ard Andrews arrived in Cobh to greet the guests. Prior to that he enjoyed a tour of
St Colman’s Cathedral and the bell tower that included a recital on the carillon by
Adrian and Amy Gebruers.
