4. Add the conditions to the test item.
On table 3 you will find a Model 12 keyboard and a stan-
dard tool kit. Use the tool kit to disassemble the keyboard
down to the frame. You will have ten minutes.
5. Can all the conditions be provided as called for by the
objective?
Yes. No changes needed in the item.
6. Are additional items necessary?
No. There is no range of conditions and little likelihood the
performance could be correct by chance.
Example #2: Let’s try another one. The objective says:
Objective: Given a malfunctioning Model 239 atomic
bomb, one symptom, and a standard tool kit,
be able to repair the malfunction within 30
minutes.
1. What’s the performance called for by the objective?
Repairing.
2. Draft a test item.
Repair that atomic bomb.
