Relevant Practice
Situation: Before drafting instruction, you want to
know what it will take to provide practice in the objec-
tives.
As the trumpets tootle to the rumbling of the kettle drums, I
enter to center stage and begin:
Me: Ladeeees and gentlemennnnn. Introducing
the world’s greatest magiciannn . . .YOU . . .
ably assisted by the world’s most handsome
assistant . . . ME. (At which point you, wear-
ing a flowing black cape and red tights, enter
stage center . . . and proceed to look befud-
dled.)
You: (Stage whisper to me) Where’s my magic
apparatus?
Me: I left it in the garage.
You: You did what?
Me: I didn’t think you’d need it.
You: (Shouting in stage whisper) And just how do
you expect me to do my tricks without my
magical apparatus?
Me: Hey! You’re the magician!
