Objective #5: When approached by a prospective customer,
be able to respond in a positive manner (i.e., by
smiling, offering a suitable greeting, and by
asking how you might be of service).
Test Items:
✓ 1. Go to the videotaping room. When the instructor turns
on the recorder, provide a suitable greeting to each of the
“customers” who will enter the room.
2. Tell how you would respond in a suitable manner to a
customer.
3. Write a description of a typical customer.
Summary
To find out whether objectives have been accomplished,
1. Make sure your test items ask students to do what the
objective asks them to be able to do, and
2. Ask them to do it under the conditions stated in the
objective.
3. Then, when reviewing the performance, consider the
objective achieved only when the performance matches,
or exceeds, the criteria described in the objectives.
Finally, remind yourself that if you are going to the effort of
using techniques intended to make instruction work, it is
worth the effort to find out whether you’ve succeeded.
