6. Revision Diary
Description: Students keep a diary of their revision
process for a particular essay. After each round of
revision, they document the changes they made and the
reasoning behind them. This helps them reflect on their
writing and become more conscious of their revision
strategies.
Objective: To build self-awareness in the revision process
and encourage students to think critically about their
writing choices.
Assessment: Graded based on the thoroughness of the
diary entries and the reflection on how revisions improved
their essay.
7. Before and After Presentation
Description: Students take a paragraph from their own
essay and present the original version alongside a revised
and edited version. They explain the changes they made,
including improvements to clarity, structure, and grammar.
This encourages students to think critically about the
specific revisions and edits that strengthen their writing.
Objective: To practice the revision and editing process and
articulate the reasoning behind their changes.
Assessment: Graded based on the quality of the revisions
and the student’s ability to clearly explain how those
revisions improved their writing.
These projects are designed to encourage students to engage
deeply with the revision and editing process, developing both
their writing and critical thinking skills.
