The Enid Joske Centenary Scholars: where are they now?
The Enid Joske Centenary Scholarship (the ‘Joske Scholar’) was established through the good offices of the Janet Clarke
Hall Society in commemoration of the College’s centenary in 1986. It honours the memory of Miss Joske and her dedicated
service as Principal of the College over 25 years from 1928 to 1952. It is now just over a quarter of a century since the first
Joske Scholarship was awarded to an outstanding member of the Senior Common Room. College Records Officer Jack Tan
asked: ‘Where are the Joske Scholars now and what do they remember from their time at JCH?’ He found out that for many
of the Joske Scholars, the College changed their lives in ways they didn’t expect when they arrived in College – and that the
bonds that tie our Joske Scholars to the College are still strong and varied.
