EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Play Works has built an excellent reputation, over the last 36 years, for delivering high

quality, impactful play-based supports for children and families.

We are passionate about relationship-based play and believe that play works; for
children; for families; and for communities.

Everything that we do is focused on prevention: providing appropriate supports, at as
early a stage as possible, to identify needs and strengths, to prevent escalation and
to build resilience - all contributing to improving people’s health and wellbeing.

Over the years we have grown and evolved to work across West Lothian, with bases in
Armadale and Broxburn, outreach work in isolated communities, workforce training,
school-aged childcare services through our Simply Play subsidiary and West Lothian’s

         first fully outdoors, woodland nursery.

Despite our many strengths and successes, we and the families that we support, face
many difficulties in today’s society and operating environment.

To address these many challenges we plan three key strategies to build on our
position and remain sustainable over the coming years.

These are Retention, Growth and Branding.

Retention: keeping and continuing to develop our best people, who are our key
         resource.

Growth: continually evolving to stay on top of what is needed and works, as well as
seeking new opportunities to grow the long-term sustainability of our social
         enterprises.

Branding: build on our recent rebranding by continuing the development and
recognition of our brand values, presence and impact, to drive the above two
         priorities.

To support the delivery of these aims we will be developing detailed Succession,
         Marketing and Fundraising Plans.

All of the above will be overseen by a recently refreshed Board of Trustees and newly
         appointed CEO.
