Family Medical Leave (FMLA)
AEO will grant family and medical leave to eligible Associates in accordance with
the requirements of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the AEO FMLA
policy, and applicable state law. Under the policy, AEO will grant up to 12 weeks of
job-protected leave (or up to 26 weeks for certain military leaves) during a 12 month
period to eligible Associates. Leave under this policy is unpaid unless the Associate
qualifies for short term disability benefits or workers’ compensation benefits. If the
leave, or any portion of the leave, is not covered by short term disability or workers’
compensation benefits, the Associate is required to use any available PTO balance
prior to being eligible for unpaid leave. Refer to the Additional Benefits section on
page 36 for more details on short term disability.

                                     Military Leave & Differential Benefit
Thank you to all who have dedicated time to serve our country. You may be eligible
for this leave option if you are called to duty and need time away from work to serve.
AEO recognizes that while you are away life continues to move forward and your
bills and expenses do not stop. For that reason, Associates will receive the difference
between his/her average pay while working and the pay received for military
service. This is called the “differential benefit.” Associates will only receive the
differential benefit for the duration of the actual military service or up to a maximum
of one year, which ever is shorter. Proper documentation of military wages must be
provided before the differential benefit will be provided. The length of your leave
depends upon the military orders. Please notify the Benefits Department
immediately. You must provide written documentation before you begin your leave.

                                     Personal Leave
If you have completed at least 6 months of service, you are eligible for up to
30 days of unpaid leave in order to take care of personal issues. You must provide
the reason in writing and the request will be reviewed by your Supervisor and
                                     the Benefits Department.
