Investigators continued to review on Sept. 14 the details surrounding an officer involved shooting of a suspect in northeast Reedley a day earlier.
As the sun rose over the area of Manning Avenue and Hemlock Av- enue on the morning of Sept. 13 it re- vealed a multitude of police vehicles lining the busy street, along with po- lice K9’s and a couple of drones fly- ing overhead.
Reedley police were in the area following an officer-involved shoot- ing of one man, and the continued search for a second man.
“About 2:30 a.m. the Reedley Po- lice Department began an investiga- tion of a commercial burglary, here in the city of Reedley,” said Brandon Purshell, a lieutenant with the Fres- no County Sheriff’s Office.“During

Alyssa Romero was named Miss Dinuba for 2021-2022, as the annual pageant returned to a performance in front of a live audience after a year's absence because of the CO- VID-19 pandemic on Sept. 11 at the Hellbaum Auditorium at Dinuba High School.
Romero, a 17-year-old Dinuba High School senior, was selected from six candidates competing for the crown. In addition to being se- lected Miss Dinuba, she captured the Miss Congeniality title.
Fellow DHS students Shaylah Fletes and Emily Rico were selected first and second runner-up, respec- tively. Also in the competition were Yaritssa Araujo-Gomez, Leslie Vala- dez and Hailee Zapien.
All contestants performed a tal- ent, answered an impromptu ques- tion, shared their individual plat-
form and displayed their poise in an evening gown competition. The candidates also were interviewed by judges and given reason why they should be selected to represent the city for the next year.
Romero's platform which won her the title was "The Thorns of Love," which was motivated by her believe that victims of domestic violence de- serve to have a voice and know that they are loved. When she was an- nounced as the winner, she formally succeeded 2020 Miss Dinuba Natalie Gonzalez.
Because of COVID, the 2020 Miss Dinuba pageant was held at a private home and limited to a maximum gath- ering of 50 people. But this year, fami- lies and friends could turn out to sup- port their favorite candidate.
