GuardII+ Operation
4. GuardII+ Operation
During normal asset operation, the sensors produce signals that are transmitted to the
GuardII+ via the Termination Boxes and cables. The signals produced by the sensors are
analyzed for patterns in the measurement results. Measurement data is analyzed, and the
monitor decides how the data will be handled.
Once fully configured, the monitor automatically collects and stores data from each of the
installed monitoring technologies, produces Alert conditions (if configured), and
collects/updates Remote I/O information. However, if a particular feature is not used, then
the ability of the monitor to operate to its full capabilities may be compromised. For example,
if the Alert Relay is not connected, or the Alert thresholds are not set, then the entire Alert
function will not work at all; the only way to tell if the data indicates a problem with the machine
being monitored is by downloading and then analyzing the data.
NOTE:
While each monitoring technology will have its own operational details,
there are a few aspects of the GuardII+ that are common to all
technologies.
4.1. Online vs Offline
Once configured and online, GuardII+ does not require user intervention for any basic
functionality; it will run measurements, store them in the Archive, evaluate Alert levels, and
produce measurement results via Modbus. This is the normal mode of operation.
While offline, GuardII+ stops collecting data.
WARNING:
The monitor MUST be online for normal operation.
If GuardII+ is turned on, but has been offline for more than 24 hours, it will
automatically go online unless a USB drive is left inserted into the panel
(refer to Section 6.4.2 for details).
The online status is shown by the Online indicators on the front panel and inside the
monitor; the indicators are green when GuardII+ is online.
