              4.2. Measurement Cycle

While the GuardII+ is online, it is constantly cycling through the different monitoring
technologies and updating the various support systems required by the technologies.

                            • Each monitoring technology follows its own measurement cycle. The duration of
a measurement cycle will depend on the technology (refer to the specific
                                monitoring technology User Manuals).
                            • Archiving and Alerts are handled by each monitoring technology independently.
The exact rules for processing these functions depend on the specific monitoring
technology (refer to the specific monitoring technology User Manuals).
                            • Operating Condition data is imported and updated after every measurement if the
Modbus input or the Remote I/O is configured.
                            • Modbus slave data is updated after every measurement cycle of any technology is
completed. For example, when the PD measurement is finished, then the PD
Modbus data is updated. Similarly, when a Rotor Flux measurement is completed,
then the Flux Modbus data is updated.
                            • GuardII+ diagnostic information is updated every 30 minutes.

              4.3. Operating Conditions

Measurement results can be affected by the current Operating Conditions of the asset
being monitored such as voltage, active power/load, temperature, humidity, etc. The benefit
of acquiring Operating Condition data is that it provides context to the data collected. For
example, if two measurements show significantly different results, it may not be a cause for
concern, but because the Operating Conditions were different. By acquiring and storing
Operating Condition data with the data, results at consistent Operating Conditions can be
analyzed, which provides a more meaningful analysis.

Different monitoring technologies benefit from different Operating Condition data. For
                     example, some PD measurement results can be significantly affected by the ambient humidity;
but for endwinding vibration (EV) measurement results, the ambient humidity is not a
                     significant factor.
GuardII+ provides three main ways of acquiring Operating Condition data:
                        • The monitor can read data from a plant control system using Modbus over TCP/IP.
