GuardII+ SM Card Operation
4.6.1. Alert Thresholds
GuardII+ SM Alerts can be set manually, or they can be automatically set by the monitor;
this is called the Alert Auto-Learn mode.
NOTE:
Do not use the Auto-Learn function unless the machine being monitored
is running.
Auto Learn Mode is enabled in IAM during configuration (refer to Section 6.3 for details).
When Auto-Learn mode is enabled, the following occurs:
• The monitor is put online.
• Measurements are taken and archived as normal.
• For a period of 24 hours, the measurement data is analyzed, and Alert thresholds are
set for each input based on the data collected.
• After the Auto-Learn period, normal operation resumes.
After the 24-hour Auto-Learn period, the Alert levels are set as follows:
• Each voltage and current input has a maximum Alert threshold set to 3x the average
data collected over the Auto-Learn period.
• Each current input has a minimum Alert threshold set to 10% of the average data
collected over the Auto-Learn period.
NOTE:
The maximum Alert thresholds will be constrained by the maximum
sensitivity of the input. For example, if average data collected over the
Auto-Learn period for the TV input was 60 V then the calculated maximum
Alert threshold would be 180 V. However, if the TV input sensitivity is only
80 V, then maximum Alert threshold is set to 80 V.
NOTE:
If the Auto-Learn process is interrupted by a power cycle, the monitor will
start a new Auto-Learn when it is turned back on.
NOTE:
Once the Auto-Learn period is complete, use the ‘Synchronize’ function in
IAM to import the new Alert thresholds into the database.
4.6.2. Alert Relay
GuardII+ is equipped with a solid-state Alert Relay that can be programmed with one of
five behavior options using IAM:
• Disabled – the Alert Relay is not used.
• Normally Open, Latching – if there is no Alert condition, the relay contacts are open.
When an Alert is detected the relay will close and stay closed until reset.
