GuardII+ Flux Card Operation
4.5. Flux Archive
While the GuardII+ monitor is running, it collects data and automatically stores
measurements in internal memory; this is referred to as the Archive. The Archive contains a
history of the measurements that have been taken. The Archive behaves differently
depending on whether the asset is a round rotor machine or a salient pole machine.
4.5.1. Salient Pole Archive
The Archive for salient pole machines can hold up to 1000 measurements; these are
organized as a simple FIFO (First In First Out). This means that once the Archive has saved
st
st
1000 measurements, the 1001 measurement saved takes the place of the 1 measurement;
nd
nd
the 1002 measurement takes the place of the 2 measurement, and so on.

Additionally, the timing of the measurements saved varies. The first 100 measurements
taken (every 30 minutes as described in Section 4.2) are saved, and then the monitor starts
saving only a single successful measurement per day; this daily measurement is the first
successful measurement of the day. The 100-measurement count is restarted after each
download of the flux data or configuration of the flux system in the monitor.
4.5.2. Salient Pole Archive Example
Consider the following timeline for a GuardII+ flux system monitoring a salient pole
machine:

• The GuardII+ is commissioned and turned on for the first time on Monday at 8:45 a.m..
• The first measurement will be taken and saved on Monday at 9:00 a.m.
