6.3.3. Flux Synchronization Configuration
The first part of the Flux system configuration is to select and configure the synchronization
source, which can be either from the ac power, or from an installed shaft trigger signal.
NOTE:
If the machine has more than 2 poles, a shaft trigger signal is necessary
to properly identify poles during analysis. Using the ac power as a
synchronization source is still possible, but whenever the GuardII+
reboots, the pole identification may change.
To select ac power as a synchronization source, select ‘AC Sync’. There is no additional
configuration needed for ac synchronization, so proceed to Section 6.3.4.
To use the Shaft Trigger:
• Select ‘Shaft Trigger Sync’.
• Press the ‘Find Shaft Trigger’ button to run a series of measurements to locate an
appropriate setting for the Shaft Trigger acquisition.
• Alternatively, press the ‘Refresh Shaft Trigger Data’ button, and the monitor will collect
a new set of Shaft Trigger data using the current settings.
• Once the acquisition is completed, the Shaft Trigger data will be displayed:
o The red trace at the top of the graph is the signal that the monitor uses to
synchronize the data acquisition. If this signal is flat or not stable, then the
Shaft Trigger Threshold should be adjusted, and a fresh set of Shaft Trigger
data collected.
