doctor working in the Vienna Hospital, proved that his
dirty handed medical staff members were responsible
for the high death rate of women after childbirth.
When Dr. Semmelweis, insisted that his fellow doctors
and medical students wash their hands before delivering
babies, the death rate plunged from 13% to 2% among new
mothers in just one month.
This proves that the spread of disease in hospitals is
by in large, avoidable. The same applies to the spread of
disease (spiritually) in our churches.

I’ve seen signs conspicuously posted around
hospitals, informing patients, visitors and workers
of the dangers of unwashed hands. They tell us that
thousands of patients die each year, due to unwashed
hands. I’ve also seen broadcast announcements aired
over the hospital’s own television channel, delivering
the same message.
At a hospital in Illinois several years ago, the sign
on a table in a sitting area indicated that 4,400 patients
die in hospitals each year, because of unwashed hands.
Well, that’s clearly a long way from 100,000 yearly
deaths in hospitals.
But, remember, there are other reasons as well.
Sixty-five (65) percent of these avoidable deaths are
the result of contaminated catheters and breathing
equipment. Other reasons for unnecessary hospital
deaths include negligence, medical malpractice and a
host of other things.
