And, how many times have we found comfort
assurance and strength in the 23rd psalms:
“The Lord is my shepherd… I shall not want.”
Psalm 23:1
My point is, if Isaiah 26:20-21 is part of the words
to a song—So What! If we throw out the 26th chapter of
Isaiah as just another song, then we need to throw out
the 23rd psalm with it.
Furthermore, throughout the ages, oppressed people
have used music as a means of secretly communicating
with one another. Messages and stories were hidden in the
lyrics and the rhythm and beats of the music. This enabled
them to communicate secretly without their oppressors
knowing that they were actually talking to each other.
Additionally, there have been many instances
where God has communicated with His children, through
music. So, when God’s warning says— “Go home, my people,
and lock your doors! Hide yourselves for a little while until the
Lord’s anger has passed,” believe Him… even if the warning
comes by way of a song.
2. Trust The Lord—
God has promised to protect those of us who place
our faith and trust in Him. His covering can protect us
from the fiery darts of the wicked. In the 91st psalm, the
psalmist says:
“You need not fear the terrors of the night, the
arrow that flies by day, the plague that stalks in the
darkness, or the disease that ravages at noon. Though
a thousand may fall beside you, and a multitude on
your right side, it will not reach you.”
Psalm 91:5-7 (NET)
