occurred in the past. Stories in recount text can be based on personal
experiences, observations, or information from other sources.

2. Purpose of Writing Recount Text

Recount text can be used to provide information about an
incident or event to the reader.

● To entertain readers
An interesting and well-written recount text can entertain

readers. Educate readers: Recount text can be used to educate
readers about moral values, culture, or history.

● To maintaining and preserving culture
Recount texts can be used to maintain and preserve culture by

retelling traditions, customs and folklore.

B. Types of Recount Text
1. Personal recount is a recount text that functions to tell about the
writer's personal experiences.

2. Factual recount is a recount text that functions to present reports of

events that really happened, such as scientific experiment reports
or police reports.
