Breakout Working Methodology
• The FM Controller undertaking a breakout maneuver shall warn the relevant
Tower coordinator as soon as possible after the breakout maneuver has been
issued; the other Final controller observing the NTZ infringement will warn the
relevant Tower coordinator if it is affecting the other Tower.
• When the aircraft is already in contact with the tower: the ATCO supervising
the approach observing the infringement of the NTZ from the adjacent
approach path, will override the relevant ADC frequency.
• The breakout heading and altitude instruction will not be issued when aircraft
is at or less than 2 NM from the threshold. A normal ‘go around’ - Standard
Missed-Approach procedure instruction shall instead be given.
• During the breakout maneuver, when the aircraft is already at/or less than 6
NM from the threshold, all departures are “hold for release”.
• After a break-out maneuver, the Final Monitor Controller shall transfer the
aircraft to the concerning APP sector to permit the repositioning on the PMS or
the vectoring for the final ILS if the circumstance permits.
