Breakout Manoeuvre
• If an aircraft is observed to deviate from its course (blunder) towards the
NTZ boundary, the appropriate monitoring ATCO will instruct the
aircraft to return immediately to the correct ILS localizer course.
• If an aircraft is observed to penetrate the NTZ, the relevant monitoring
ATCO shall instruct the aircraft on the adjacent localizer course
(threatened) to immediately turn and climb to an assigned heading and
altitude to avoid the deviating aircraft. In the case of external blunders
penetrating the adjacent NTZ, both threatened aircraft on parallel LOC
course must execute an ATC directed breakout (double breakout).
• Any heading instruction has been defined according to ICAO DOC
9643 (Manual on Simultaneous Operations on Parallel or Near-Parallel
Instrument Runways (SOIR) and validated with an Fast Time
Simulation (FTS) and an Real Time Simulation (RTS).
