\ What’s happening in the world…?
Did you know that…?
• Today we are witnessing the largest mass destruction event since life on
earth started – we, the human race, are responsible for and accessories to the
occurrence of the extinction of many animal and plant species; the process is
called the biodiversity crisis.
• In 1992, the Convention on Biological Diversity was written, with the intent of
coping with the reduction of biodiversity due to human activity.
• Each of the 196 signatory countries was required to translate the plan into a
strategy and national action plans to maintain biodiversity.
