Did you know that…?
• 8 million tons of plastic waste are discarded into the sea every year
worldwide.
• A million birds, fish and sea turtles die each year because of offshore
plastic waste.
• Plastic decomposes into tiny molecules and becomes microplastic. Fish
feed on these molecules too, and we eat the fish.
• On June 8 each year, people around the world celebrate the World Oceans
Day.
