A Person I Admire
I just got back from a really (1) (nice) visit with my grandfather

summer, and he looks (3) (terrific).
He eats a (4) (healthy) diet and
exercises (5) (regular). He’s extremely
(6) (active) for his age. He hasn’t slowed
down at all since I last saw him.
My grandfather also has a lot of hobbies and interests.
For example, he plays the guitar really (7)
(good) and sings (8) (beautiful). When he
was young, he was very (9) (curious) and
loved to travel. He traveled (10) (frequent),
so he has some (11) (interesting) stories.
He’s a (12) (great) storyteller, too! After a
week with Grandpa, I didn’t want to leave!

Hi, Jessica and Mark,
I need some advice. I had an interview for a job as a DJ at my local radio station, but I was
1
unsuccessful
unsuccessfully. I’ve had a lot of experience as a DJ, and I work very hard. I wore a new nice suit to
the interview, and I felt pretty confidently when I left my house.
Before the interview, I read some interview tips and techniques online. For example, one said,
“Copy the interviewer’s movements close.” Well, I tried that technique, but the interviewers didn’t seem
to like it very much. Anyway, I didn’t get the job. Now I’m real confused. I know I made a few mistakes
in the interview, but nothing really bad. At first, I was nervously, but that was because I arrived lately.
When the interview started, I spoke loud, smiled frequently, and talked a lot—well, until they asked me
to stop. Also, I didn’t ask any questions, but in general, I thought it went good. Where did I go wrong?
Thanks,
Kevin in Ohio
