The South West Corner Conservatory

he fine cut stone steps. brick walls and paving stones of this conservatory ar intact but
detriorating.

THE SOUTH WEST CORNER
CONSERVATORY
This small space acted as an entrance
lobby giving access through 3 doors to
the exterior, the fernery and west vinery
and the Banana house. The floor was
flagged with large sandstone flags and
hot water pipes ran underneath. Some
cast iron staging survives on the south
side. A brick built tank presumably for
collecting rainwater has been built over
a portion of the staging on the south.
The bricks are stamped with the
manufacturers name which reads JAS
GOLDIE AND SON, OLD LANGSIDE ROAD,
18 GLASGOW 85. This feature is obviously
not original and the date of
manufacture of the brick i.e. 1885 means
that it was not built until after this date.
