Day 18 - Wonderfully Made

            Scripture:
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are
wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14 NIV

            Reflection:
The media defines the standards for beauty in today’s society. Young men and
women often choose surgical procedures to fix physical imperfections on their
bodies that they deem unattractive. Wearing contacts allows us to change brown
eyes to blue or green. Hair coloring lets us go from brown hair to blonde. If we
want to feel taller, we can wear five-inch heeled shoes in order to reach that
magical height of 5 feet 10 inches. Drinking green smoothies daily and following
the latest diet craze will help us to remain high school skinny. It is important to
make healthy choices because that is necessary to having a long healthy life.
However, it is important to remember that we are fearfully and wonderfully
made. God’s design is perfect in every way. It does not need repair. We should
take care of ourselves because it is his work that truly defines beauty.

            Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for your making me who I am physically and spiritually.
Your design is perfect in every way. It is because of you that I can be confident
in appearance and in thought. And it is because of you that I will make good
choices to love what you have made. I praise you because I and fearfully and
wonderfully made, In Jesus’ name, AMEN
