Ya’ir Rosenblum
Ya’ir Rosenblum (January 6th 1944 – August 27th 1996) is an Israeli
composer and adapter, one of the most important creators of Hebrew singing,
who is recognized mainly as the composer for the army bands.
Between the years 1967-1977 Rosenblum worked with the best of the army
bands. Rosenblum is considered to be the one who introduced new
adaptations of rock and pop to these bands, which were not acceptable until
then within the army framework.
One of the most familiar songs he composed is “A Song for Peace” that
Ya’akov Rotblit wrote, and became famous as performed by the ‘Nachal’
band with the soloist Miri Aloni. The song was sung at the peace rally where
Yitzhak Rabin was murdered.
Ya’ir Rosenblum’s songs that appear in this book: ‘The Ballad about Hedva
and Shlomik’.
