Yoni Rechter (born November 18th 1951) is an Israeli musician, composer,
player, adapter and versatile singer. Recipient of the 2008 EMT award for
music.

Rechter was born and raised in Tel Aviv. He started playing the piano when
he was eight years old, and already at age 16 he composed music for
“Angels’ Tears” to Dan Minster’s words and started a Jazz trio. Rechter is a
gifted composer and musician, who’s characterized with his simple manor
and his deep, interesting concerts, attracting both young and old audience..

Rechter was a member of the Artillery corps band, where he served as a
keyboard player, and after his release joined “Kaveret” band. In 1978 he co-
created the album “The Sixteenth Lamb”, which was composed of children’s
songs written by Yehonatan Geffen, to which he matched melodies that
became, despite their complexity, children’s classics – like “The Most
Beautiful Girl in Kindergarten”. Following this album, Rechter cooperated
with the musician Yehudit Ravitz, who was at the start of her career at the
time. His songs are complicated to execute, but catchy and become hits as
they are written.

In 2009 Rechter received an honorary degree from the Hebrew University in
Jerusalem.

About the Romance’, ‘Somewhere’.
