                            Me’ir Ariel

Me’ir Ariel (March 2nd 1942 – July 18th 1999) was an Israeli poet,
songwriter, composer and singer of a unique style. His songs were performed
by many artists of Hebrew singing. Ariel grew in Kibbutz Mishmarot.
In 1987 he published a song book which included songs from his first two
albums, songs he wrote for various artists and songs which were meant to be
released in his next album. His songs touch youngsters in a unique way and
remain popular to this day.
On July 18th 1999 Ariel passed away from Typhus, which is caused by a
bacteria called Rickettsia which is transferred by a tick bite, possibly from his
dog. His grave is at Kibbutz Mishmarot’s cemetery.
Since Ariel’s death, his family, and mainly his wife Tirtza, continues to act to
preserve his memory. Ariel’s sons perform his songs in many concerts
around the country.
