Some Things Don’t Change
Shavu’ot 1955:
“So, how’s the cake? Like (it)?” – “Really good.” – “It’s first-rate.” –
“Shifra, it’s the cream of the crop.”
Shavu’ot 1975:
“A deluxe cake.” – “You meant a hit (old slang)…” – “Ruty, it’s a hit.”
Shavu’ot 1987:
“What a hip cake!” – “It’s wild, it’s groovy, awesome!” – “Mom, it’s the
bomb.” – “Oh come on, (that’s) rubbish.”
Shavu’ot 2015:
“Well?” – “Dad, it’s a rare cake.” – “Great.” – “I have to upload it to
Instagram.” – “Ignore…”
Many things have changed over the years, but one thing hasn’t changed.
Sitting with your whole family around the holiday table and eating a
simply delicious cheesecake! Happy Shavu’ot.
