Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors
e.g. Acetazolamide (oral), Dorzolamide & Brinzolamide (topical)
Inhibit CA (Carbonic anhydrase) throughout the body.
MOA CO2 + H2O HCO3 + H (hydrogen acid)

So formation of aqueous humor ➔ IOP ➔ treats glaucoma.
Treatment of disorders such as:
Uses High-altitude sickness ( aqueous fluid from the ears).
Glaucoma.
1) Acetazolamide the excretion of weak bases such as amphetamine,
ephedrine & quinidine ➔ their serum levels ➔ drug toxicity.
S/E Because it causes alkaline urine.
2) Hypokalemia
3) Hyperglycemia.
Note Dorzolamide & Brinzolamide combined with Timolol to treat glaucoma
