THE BRONZE SHELL IS BACK!

One of the major highlights at the Preparatory School this
semester was the publication of Resurrection of the Bronze
Shell, written by the students in Mr. Phillips’ Stage 2 class,
under his expert guidance. Mr. Phillips also contributes many
of the graphics in the books, and each student pens a different
chapter.

This will bring back many memories for graduates of the
Preparatory School, as the original Bronze Shell trilogy was
written and published by students in Mr. Phillips’ classes
between 2009 and 2011.
These are not the only books to have been published by
Preparatory School students, as Creative Writing is a keen
pursuit of so many of our students.
Departing from the adventures of the characters in the
Bronze Shell series, in 2017 Mr. Phillips’ Stage 2 class
ventured into a new genre, writing and publishing the
‘thriller’Realms Collide and, last year, when teaching our
Stage 1 class, Mr. Phillips helped our youngest authors with
their book Further Fun with Frog and Toad.
This year, however, we are reacquainting ourselves with much
loved characters, as this instalment of the Shell story picks up
with the granddaughter of the original central character on
the hunt for the perpetrators responsible for the theft of her
grandfather’s precious artefacts.
A Literary Launch followed the publication,
with Mr. Phillips and students reading
excerpts from the book to an appreciative
audience of family and friends of the
students.
The launch was then followed by a special
Authors’ Signing session during which all
copies of the book sold out.
