NSW JUNIOR CHESS ONE DAY CHAMPIONS
BMGS Junior Chess players had a terrific day at the the NSW Junior Chess
League’s Blue Mountains One-Day Tournament. We hosted the tournament
and entered three teams in a competition that drew together 19 teams from
five Blue Mountains schools. We were the defending champions and have had
close competitions already this year, so we have been looking forward to
the contest.
Our A team (of Zach Ivery, James Reynolds and Ryan Ivery, pictured top right)
were battling it out at the top of the table with Blaxland East A. With each
round crucial the competition ended with BMGS A just half a point in front
and Champions for 2020. The team will now go on to compete at State Finals
later this month. Well done, boys! There was great work also from our B team
(Raphael Hampartzoumian, Nicholas Roberson and Neil Geikie, pictured right)
rd
who finished in 3 place and, crucially, won a game against Blaxland East A,
which assisted our A team’s progression through the competition.
