YEAR 11 OUTDOOR LEADERSHIP SNOWSHOE EXPEDITION
During the first week of the July School holidays,
our Year 11 Outdoor Leadership students travelled
to Kosciusko National Park to undertake a four-day
Advanced Snowshoe Expedition. Due to strong winds,
the original route across the main range was altered to
instead explore the Mount Twynam area, which provides
suitable cover in severe weather.
Students established snow camps on the east base of
Mount Twynam and later summited Little Twynam,
Mount Twynam and Mt Anton in extremely challenging
conditions. Students developed their navigation skills in
‘white-out’ conditions demonstrating great accuracy
and teamwork.
The BMGS community should be proud of these Year
11 Outdoor Leadership students for their commitment,
tenacity and support for each other during a difficult trip
in an unforgiving environment.
