CELEBRATING CREATIVITY
THROUGH OUR EYES EXHIBITION
THR OUGH OUR EYES EXHIBITION
In March, our Year 10 Visual
Arts class, Ms Hiam and Mr
Laffin attended the opening
of the Through Our Eyes
Exhibition at the National Trust
Norman Lindsay Gallery.
This annual exhibition
showcases the artworks
created by the participants of
Greystanes Disabilities services
throughout the year. The
artworks produced during the
creative collaboration between
BMGS and Greystanes were
exhibited as part of this show.
The BMGS Visual Arts
Department has been building
a strong relationship with
Greystanes Disabilities
Services artists for the
past nine years through
collaborative artmaking
workshops and excursions.
The exhibition opening was a
wonderful opportunity for the
students to reconnect with
the Greystanes participants
and to meet with their carers,
family members and the local
community.
In the words of one of our
students, Oliver Stephens:
“Through the collaboration with
Greystanes, we have been able
to assist our friends in making
art as well as develop strong,
enduring relationships. We
have been able to create a safe
environment where we can
listen to each other and learn
from each other’s social cues,
building trust.”
