Food in
Schools
Comparing Food in Schools
t our school “Gymnasium An der Stenner” in Iserlohn we are not al-
A lowed to eat in class during lessons, unless it is very hot in summer,
when we can take a sip from our water bottles, which we can refill in the
school cafeteria. Otherwise, we are only allowed to eat and drink something
during the breaks. The only places where we are not allowed to eat and drink
at all are the science rooms, as you could get poisoned when eating or drink-
ing there, and the assembly hall, as it would be very unhygienic to eat at a
place where many people spend their time to listen to concerts, attending a
play - or write exams.
What is more, drinking alcoholic drinks and chewing gum is forbidden at
all school. If you do not obey these rules, you will be sanctioned, e.g. at the
German school, i.e. you will have to do a canteen service, sweeping the floor
and cleaning the tables in our canteen, or tidiness service picking up rubbish
on the schoolyard during the breaks, that’s why our school is quite clean ...
