n December 2017, the Erasmus project kicked off in Iserlohn with the
I subject „Food on Europe’s tables“. At the end of the eventful week,
the hosts accompanied their guests to the state parliament in Düsseldorf,
where they had a discussion with the Member of Parliament Thorsten
Schick, who informed them about sustainable cultivation of food, plastic
recycling and other relevant food topics that are regulated by the state of
North Rhine-Westphalia. We learned, the state, or the state of Germa-
ny, in most cases follows Europeans laws and regulations regarding food.
In Ireland MEP Lynn Boya, spent 2 hours with the group tasting their foods
from the Food Fayre and telling us how organic products and cattle breeding
are handled from an EU perspective and discussing what the future holds for
all of the EU in terms of farming, food labelling, sustainable development
to name a few. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and a great
           discussion was had.
