117 Special Results 118

Junk food is cheaper and people have more access to it but it is
           unhealthy
One solution would be to promote more vegetarian national days

Too much waste caused by non-biodegradable resources
One solution would be to collect all cans for recycling

The use of chemicals in production / agriculture – it is harmful for
human health, it leads to contamination and to pollution
One solution would be the promotion of organic production

Overproduction of food leading to food waste (over-exploration
           of natural resources)
Solutions would be: to charge restaurants for the excess of food waste; to
have NGOs manage the waste and reach the low income population; to serve
           food in smaller plates/portions

Breeding animals is bad for the environment - it takes up a lot
of natural resources, like water, it worsens methane emissions,
           greenhouse effect, global warming
One solution would be to create taxes on imported products that are already
produced in the country (eg. chickens)

We are grateful for the time you have devoted to reading our letter and we en-
courage you to continue to pursue policies, like those we’ve outlined above,
that will contribute to better health and environmental conditions for all
European citizens and by the example we set, to the rest of the world as well.

           Yours Faithfully,
