I did recognize the 5th song, “Down In Nogales,” since our border
town down south is the city of Nogales, AZ. Kevin Costner & Modern
West performed 15 original songs, including 2 encore songs, the last
one being a Bob Dylan tune “Mr. Tambourine Man.” Most of the
musical selections hailed from his third album of original
songs, “Tales from Yellowstone,” from 2020.

His band, Modern West, which includes his good friend John
Coinman, was tight on musicianship, and they were truly inspiring to
watch. They performed professionally, paralleled to any national
multi-platinum country rock band out there now. I don’t remember
hearing Kevin Costner introduce his band, but that’s okay. His band
as a whole was nothing short of amazing. Most, if not all of the songs,
were written by Kevin, and much like me, they seemed to be new
songs to the crowd.

In closing, I did enjoy the show and at the close of his performance, I
thought to myself that Kevin Costner the singer sounds just like Kevin
Costner the actor. Who knew? At the very the end of the show, Kevin
Costner thanked the crowd, saying, “See you at the movies!”
