1           Overview of

                             Grocery Retail Industry








































             Retailing  is  the  world’s  largest  private  sector  and  the  economy’s

             primary  driver.  This  is  a  fiercely  competitive,  fast-paced  industry,
             which  is  pivotal  to  the  economy.  These  days,  consumers  want  an
             integrated shopping experience. The rise in omnichannel retailing is a
             confirmation  of  this.  Consumers  nowadays  expect  to  combine  the

             benefits of traditional shopping with the convenience of using modern
             technology  such  as  tablets  or  smartphones.  They  could  also  be  in
             brick-and-mortar  stores  on  the  high  streets.  Consumer  appetite  for
             retail  sales  has  still  remained  robust.  As  a  result,  in  order  to  stay

             competitive,  businesses  must  now  provide  a  hassle-free,  seamless
             experience for customers. This trend holds for grocery retailing as well.


             As  a  result  of  the  COVID  19  outbreak,  the  food  and  grocery  retail

             market  is  witnessing  a  significant  rise  in  demand  globally.  However,
             the  supply  chain  has  been  disrupted  as  a  result  of  the  lockdown  in
             some countries. The increased demand for food and grocery products
             is causing problems for both brick-and-mortar and online retailers.
